How Famino began
Famino is not an anonymous software product, it grew out of real family life. Starting a family changes everything: new challenges put couples to the test and call for a fair split of everyday tasks. And whether it’s daycare, school, hobbies or work, the mental load grows with every year of the kids’ lives, and all too often it rests on one single person. Founder Daniel Prause looked for an app to help and came up empty.

Does every family member need their own subscription?
No, one single subscription covers all family members together. No matter how many kids or smartphones you have: one Premium plan unlocks Famino for your entire household.
Where is our data stored?
Your data is kept safe in European data centers and is subject to strict GDPR rules. Famino encrypts particularly sensitive entries with AES-256, the standard used by banks, with a separate, individual key for your family.
Is Famino available for Android and iPhone?
Yes, Famino is available for both Android and iPhone (iOS 15.5 or later). Your family can mix devices and operating systems as you like, and all entries sync seamlessly.
What is kids mode?
Kids mode is an age-appropriate view: kids get a clear overview of their own timetable, homework and events, but can neither see nor change the household finances or their parents’ settings.
Can I import existing calendars?
Yes, you can easily bring your existing calendars along. On Android, Famino connects to Google Calendar, Samsung Calendar and iCloud; on iPhone, you connect your iOS calendar. You can also import events from schools, clubs or daycare as an ICS file.
Can I plan together with other families who don’t have Famino?
Yes, with “Plan together”. Create a plan, for a trip or a class party, for example, and share a link. Anyone without Famino simply opens the link in a browser, enters a name and joins in: voting, taking on list items such as who brings what, and adding comments. Nobody needs an account for that. The organizing family approves new participants, and the plan ends automatically on the date you set.
